Greece’s Debt Crisis Worsens

Stock markets across Europe were feeling the effects today as Portugal’s debt was lowered in an attempt to stop it spreading, and Greece’s credit rating was downgraded to ‘junk status.’ The move was seen as a blatant attempt by the European Union to prevent the debt crisis spreading and further undermining the Euro currency. Larger European economies such as Spain and Germany are said to be sceptical about bailing out Greece who have flouted European guidelines put in place to prevent members from running up big debts. With this being yet another example of large organisations and governments’ ineffectiveness in managing their debts considering the expertise that they employ, it’s of little surprise that so many people in Britain are struggling to manage their own finances with little or no special training. If you’ve found yourself in a monetary predicament that is not entirely of your own making, and you don’t feel you have the skills to rectify the situation on your own, it may be a good idea to contact someone with years of experience in dealing with similar cases. Here at adebtmanagement.co.uk we’ve been helping thousands of people escape the shackles of debt through consolidation and efficient debt management. If you, or someone you know needs help, just fill in your details on the website and wait to be contacted by a ‘debt specialist’ who can start you on the road to financial recovery.

Volcano crisis costs British economy £1bn

Thousands of people are facing the prospect of their holiday plans being thrown into turmoil as a result of the skies above Britain becoming a no-fly zone. Airports across England are scheduled to be shut for the sixth day running tomorrow, with only flights in Scotland and Ireland managing to sneak through. Experts claim there is “no end in sight” to the eruptions from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano which has only erupted twice previously in the last 1100 years, as a result the 63,000 flights already cancelled looks set to increase substantially.

The government looks set to step in by enlisting the Navy to help Britons who have been stuck abroad, but for those unlucky ones who have found themselves stranded in a foreign country, what options are available to them? Airlines are duty-bound to absorb any additional costs that may be incurred by a customer as a direct result of a flight being cancelled. However these expenses need to be claimed back, and with some airlines already calling for government help to prevent them folding under the worst flight embargo since September 11th, how long is it going to be before these outlays can be recuperated?

Judith from adebtmanagement.co.uk says, “Traditionally overdrafts and credit cards were kept for times of emergency such as the fallout from the Icelandic volcano eruption. However since the occurrence of the banking crisis and the credit crunch, Joe Public has been dipping into these reserves just to get by. Without proper control over your finances, a situation like this can leave you in real trouble financially. Whether it’s a volcano erupting or just the clutch going on your car, if your living on the edge of your financial capability, your leaving yourself in a very vulnerable position.”

By employing the services of a company like adebtmanagement.co.uk and talking to one of its trained advisors, it’s possible to consolidate existing debts leaving you with money left over each month just in case of emergencies or even a rainy day!

Holiday debts from Icelandic Volcano

If you have a TV, look at the net, or read a newspaper you will have seen the massive news that a volcano has erupted in Iceland spewing thousands of tons of Ice, sand, ash, lava and dust 20,000 feet above sea level, causing massive problems with air travel.

The major problem is the dust that is sitting in the atmosphere has the potential to be sucked into an aeroplane’s engine, either blowing out the ignition in the chamber or jamming all the engines sucking in the air needed to propel the plane.

So, you may ask what has this got to do with Debt Management, well its simple, lots of people are hanging on until the last minute with their flight and holiday bookings before cancelling. Be careful doing this as some hotels will not take a cancellation if you do not give them 24,48 or sometimes 96 hours notice and you could potentially lose all your money.

When it comes to flights, most airlines are rearranging the flights but if that doesn’t fit in with your schedule you could again lose all your money.

With most people saving up all year to afford a holiday, losing hundreds or thousands of pounds. This can put people in a lot of financial difficult and with the insurance companies stance being that this is “an act of god” they are in general not paying out on any claims.

So how can we help with your debt problems? it’s quite simple,  if you lose out on a lot of money or decide to spend more to get that elusive holiday and end up owing money, it’s worth giving us a call to see if we can help you get rid of those annoying holiday debts.

How will personal finance problems be addressed in the General Election?

A key campaign focus for all the major political parties in the upcoming General Election is, of course, personal finance and the increasing need for better debt management following the devastating financial effects of the recession. Each party has a different stance on the issue; the following are the key policy initiatives you need to be aware of:

Labour

· Pensions – Launch of the Saving Gateway, where the government will add 50p for every £1 saved for people with low incomes

· Debt management – Give every UK citizen the right to at least a basic bank account, as well as continuing to operate the Homeowners Mortgage Support Scheme

· Housing – Build up to 10,000 new affordable homes

Conservatives

· Savings – Launch Green Individual Savings Accounts for investment in renewable technology

· Pensions – Review all public sector pensions, with a view to capping the biggest

· Housing – Reward councils for building new homes

· Debt – Reduce store card interest rates and launch a national financial advice helpline

Under 40s tend to look online for debt management help, according to CCCS

The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) have released figures demonstrating that people under the age of 40 tend to look online for debt management advice and support.

Debt charity CCCS used statistics gathered from their online counselling tool, CCCS Debt Remedy, to compile the report published in their 2009 Statistical Yearbook. They found that of the 150,000 people seeking debt advice last year, two thirds of users were in the under 40s age group.

Further data revealed that:

· Over one third of people seeking debt management advice had a yearly income of between £10,000 and £19,999

· Approximately 16.5% earned over £30,000 annually

Related information from the BBC supported the charity’s conclusions about debt problems in the under 40s, finding that the average personal debt for young people stands at around £9,016. A further worrying statistic comes from the Association of British Insurers, who found that six out of ten of those surveyed saw the current economic situation as a reason not to save money.

The CCCS findings, however, indicate that people are starting to see the Internet as a valuable resource for financial support and advice, especially when it comes to IVAs and debt management advice. The amount of online enquiries the charity receives is already on track to overtake those dealt with by their telephone helpline service.

Bookies lose £50m on Grand National

When the joint favourite ‘Don’t Push It’ crossed the line first in the Grand National at Aintree yesterday, the bookies must have crying into their ‘Scouse’, but it wasn’t just the bookies track side that would have been grieving, it is estimated that Tony McCoy’s first National victory has stung the Bookies to the tune of £50m – the biggest payout since Papillon romped home in 2000.

The bookies won’t be the only people who lost out though, for many of us the next bet we place will be on the Grand National 2011, but for many others gambling can become an obsession. Like any addiction, the first step to recovery is acknowledging that you have a problem, but once you have done that, depending on the extent of your addiction, there is going to be an ‘aftermath’ that needs to be dealt with. With other forms of addiction like drugs and alcohol there are very real health implications, however with gambling addiction the negative effects are nearly always financial.

Support groups like Gamblers Anonymous can help you with conquering your addiction, but many addicts have been left with thousands of pounds of debt and it takes experts in debt management to help free you from the shackles of your indiscretions. Here at adebtmanagement.co.uk we’ve been helping thousands of people who have found themselves floundering in debt, so whether it’s as a result of gambling addiction or any other reason, we’re committed to helping you solve your problems. Leave your contact details with us and one of our trained advisors will be in touch to start you on the road to financial recovery.
